This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of innovation in Children's and Young Peoples (CYP) Mental Health! We seek confident professionals with significant experience of evidence-based group and individual interventions with children and young people, day to day operational leadership and clinical supervision.

It is essential you hold a relevant clinical qualification and have previous experience of working in a mental health support team at band 6 level or above or specialist or early help children and young people's mental health team additional post-graduate training in an evidenced based treatment modality such as CBT or DBT or experience of working in an educational setting would be a bonus. You will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality and responsive clinical interventions, including implementation and review of systems, policies, standards and procedures. You will have experience of working with culturally diverse populations and adapting services to improve access.

Main duties of the job

Provide day to day senior operational leadership to support the clinical function of the MHSTs whilst working alongside the team manager and clinical lead to develop and implement a wide range of interventions and projects with local schools.

Lead on and directly provide comprehensive assessment, risk management and evidence-based interventions for young people experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties

Work with school staff and cultures in developing school environments that are more conducive to supporting sustainably better emotional health and wellbeing.

Contribute to the training and development of all staff including trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) within the team, through observations, modelling, co-facilitation, training, and ongoing support.

Job responsibilities

The Senior Practitioner will be responsible for the caseload management and supervision of all clinical staff in a Mental Health Support Team and will facilitate wider service transformation within the teams locality in conjunction with other senior MHST staff and school mental health leads. The post holder will ensure the provision of high-quality, short term outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties in and around schools.

The post holder will contribute to the training and development of all staff including trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) within the team, through observations, modelling, co-facilitation, training, and ongoing support and ensure the staff within the team are equipped with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional /Therapy Mental Health Qualification at Diploma or Degree level. E.g. mental health nursing, social work, occupational therapy, psychology, CBT /DBT/MBT/Family/ Systemic Therapist Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychologist Art, Music or Drama Therapist
  • Post Graduate clinical supervision training/qualification or a willingness to attend identified training


Desirable

  • Additional relevant clinical post graduate qualification
  • Registered with a recognised professional body (e.g. HCPC, NMC, BACAP)


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children, young people and parents presenting with a range of mental health difficulties and challenging behaviour.
  • Experience of working closely with education settings.
  • Formulation and treatment of children and young people with mental health difficulties
  • Experience of using Routine Outcome Measures, including in supervision
  • Experience of delivering CBT-informed supervision.
  • Experience in managing safeguarding concerns and risk to self/others.


Knowledge

Essential

  • Varied clinical approaches. Both group and individual
  • High level knowledge of the theory and practice of psychological interventions including low -intensity CBT interventions.
  • Active in MDT approach.

  • Ability to develop, manage and lead on outcomes data and data reporting for the service
