Ward Manager -Doyle - Medical Specialties,Band 7Ward manager-Wilson- Medical Specialties,Band 737.5 hours (including occasional weekend staffing bleep cover)An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior nurse looking for their next step towards nursing management and leadership within the specialty of the care and management of the older patient.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and manage a dedicated and committed team at Wythenshawe Hospital within a inpatient 23 beds Medical Specialties ward .The successful candidate will have previous substantive experience at Band 6 or band 7 level and possess experience within change management. Excellent communication skills are essential and the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate and sustain new and innovative ways of working which facilitate developments in nursing practice.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and committed to improving service delivery with a flexible approach to the needs of the service. This post provides an excellent career opportunity for someone who is clinically credible but wishes to further develop management and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

Within this role the post holder will be expected to assess patients, the care plans devised, and the implementation of the care. Provide advice and to the multidisciplinary team and ensure all records and documentation are completed and relevant.

The role involves managing staff, rotas, appraisals, recruitment and selection, resource control and bugetry management for the area.

This role involves the overall 24 hour responsibility forthe Ward/Dept./Unit and therefore will require enhanced communication skills in order to deal with the broad range of issues involved in the day to day management of the unit.
