An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Stoma Nurse to support the Colorectal Service at the Royal site of the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful applicant will join the well-established Stoma nurse team within the Surgical Care Group. They will work within the small team of highly specialised professionals and will be a key member of the Colorectal Multidisciplinary Team.
They will act as a resource providing specialist advice regarding the management and care of patients with stomas for other agencies e.g. Medical staff, Dieticians, Social workers. Work with senior colleagues in all aspects of clinical care of stoma, participate in the delivery of a Nurse Led drop-in clinic and clinical audit.
All applicants are required to have experience of Stoma nursing with the ability to develop and maintain expertise throughout the many facets of Stoma care. Excellent communication skills are needed to support patients and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Act as a resource providing specialist advice regarding the management and care of patients with stomas for other agencies
.Act as a Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide autonomous practice for patients undergoing Ileoanal pouch surgery, and provide continuing support and treatment for established patients within the hospital local, the community and wider North West area.
Provide specialist advice re the management and care of patients who have undergone Ileoanal pouch surgery for other agencies e.g. medical staff.
Work within the Medical Inflammatory bowel team to provide resources and information on all aspects of surgery for Inflammatory Bowel Disease. To provide a vital link with the surgical team for patients who are considering surgery.
Act as resource and work within the genetic team for patients and families with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis, in the important decision making process re choice and timing of surgery acting as a link with the surgical department.
Undertakes Nurse Led Clinics for patients who have undergone Ileoanal pouch surgery, working within agreed protocols incorporating assessment and treatment.
