An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced physiotherapist to join our community stroke team to work 37.5hrs over 5 days on a rota system. We would also consider two part-time posts.
The ability to use your initiative, work proactively, demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills, manage and prioritise your own workload and respond flexibly to changing demands are essential requirements of the post.
You will be part of the Countywide Community Interdisciplinary Stroke Service, working with patients/families throughout Worcestershire. The whole team has a strong work ethic but are extremely flexible and supportive in the balance of work and home life.
You will predominantly work from base but there will be a requirement to work from home for which you will be provided the necessary equipment to do so.
The role will provide you with variety and no two days are the same. You will have autonomy to balance and achieve the demands of the role so will need to demonstrate abilities in being responsive and flexible.
If you would like to discuss informally if this is the right role for you, please get in touch with the recruiting manger which can be found on the top right-hand side of the advert.
Main duties of the job
Day to day, you will be undertaking comprehensive assessments of stroke patients including those with multiple pathologies, using specialised investigative and analytical skills to diagnose their neurological impairments. You will formulate individual programmes of rehabilitation using clinical reasoning and utilising a range of treatment skills, targeting realistic goals which are patient-led. It is also expected that you will offer support and education to carers/families.
You will attend the weekly MDT in which the team will discuss the progress of patients and identify whether goals have been achieved. You will also participate in referral management and be liaising with other health care professionals within the Trust/Acute Trust.
We pride ourselves on being truly interdisciplinary, so you will also be involved with supporting patients to undertake their morning routine, support with medications and/or facilitate their meal preparation. These sessions are part of a rehabilitation focused approach of which we can evidence great results in patients regaining independence. You will be given the appropriate training and support to do this.
