To work as an autonomous practitioner practicing within agreed guidelines and protocols to deliver quality patient services, which is evidence based including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, transfer to children's ward or discharge.
Main duties of the job
To assess children admitted to the Paediatric Unit's as an autonomous practitioner and using own clinical judgment diagnose, treat, refer or discharge patients.
Exercise a higher degree of personal and professional autonomy using advanced skills to include clinical interventions.
Admit to children's ward or discharge home within locally agreed pathways, guidelines and protocols.

Job responsibilities
To adhere to trust policies, procedures and guidelines including Child Protection and Adult Protection.
To work with multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams in order to ensure patients needs are met.
To work within independent/supplementary nurse prescribing or patient group directives that support or enhance patient care.
To contribute to quality improvement within the service.
To assist in clinical audit and the setting and monitoring of standards of care.
To ensure effective communication skills and be able to advise and provide information to patients, carers and their families where appropriate.

- oRegistered First Level Nurse oRSCN/RNC
- oDegree in relevant child health field
- Recent acute paediatric nursing experience
- oEPLS/APLS provider
- oWorking toward MSC in advanced clinical practice or willingness to undertake and complete within a 2 year period or appropriate evidence of practice or competencies achieved
