We have an exciting opportunity for a band 7 cognitive behavioural therapist to join our team of existing cognitive behavioural therapist, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and consultants in the Pulvertaft Hand Unit.
The Pulvertaft Hand Unit is a busy fast paced department treating patients with both elective and traumatic conditions, sometimes who have experienced life changing injuries. You will need to have a keen interest in working specifically with trauma and chronic long term health conditions.
The MDT consists of Therapists, Nurses and Doctors who work alongside the CBT therapists to ensure that patients get the best outcome possible.
You will have clinical supervision and peer support from your CBT colleague and will have annual appraisals with the Hand Therapy Team Leader.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry responsibility for their own caseload, assessing and treating patients where it has been identified that CBT may help to support their progress.
You will work closely with all members of the MDT to provide a holistic, patient centred approach to care. Treatments will be via telephone or video, in a group setting or as a one to one.
Additionally, there will be a requirement to provide training and clinical supervision for the MDT, and for the post holder to have access to their own regular clinical supervision. You will also be expected to contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
The team have a commitment to both research and education and so part of the role is to help deliver both inhouse and external teaching sessions.
There is a need for more literature into the benefits of CBT in acute care, the department are fortunate to have a dedicated research team as part of the team to help facilitate quantifying the benefit and impact that CBT has so you would have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research and creation of papers and posters to present at conferences.
