Northamptonshire Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service provides assessment and treatment to women experiencing or at an increased chance of experiencing a moderate to severe mental health condition during pregnancy and up to the child's 1st birthday. The service provides assessment and high quality evidence based interventions to an increasing number of women in Northamptonshire in line with the 5 Year Forward View and NHS Long Term Plan.
Main duties of the job
Following an internal secondment, we now have an opportunity for a secondment into a 12 month bBnd 6 role as a Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner.
We are looking to recruit a Mental Health Nurse with significant experience who have a passion for delivering evidence based interventions. Applicants will need to have a genuine interest in Perinatal Mental Health and the development of the service, excellent communication skills, the ability to provide supervision to junior staff and mentorship to students.
The Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service also offers pre-conception advice for woman with a known mental illness wishing to conceive and provide training and education to professionals alongside experts by experience.
Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable as is knowledge of Perinatal Mental Health Conditions, prevalence rates, treatment interventions and Safeguarding Policies and Procedures. A keen interest and passion for working with women and their families is a must, as is the ability to work closely with a range of professionals from health visiting, Maternity, Children's Services and the Third Sector.

- RMN qualification and evidence of current registration on NMC register
- Qualification to degree level or equivalent
- Training to level 3 in Safeguarding children and young people or willingness to undertake

- Experience working with women with serious mental illness
- Experience of risk assessment and risk management
- Experience of undertaking detailed mental health assessments and developing care plans

- Substantial experience of managing a busy caseload of clients with a range of mental health problems
