The Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases team (ICVD) at Great Ormond Street Hospital is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic nurse to join our team. We are looking for someone with cardiac nursing experience who can bring their valuable experience with them to join a dedicated team of clinical nurse specialists.

The ICVD Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital manages an increasing caseload of children and young people who are affected by inherited cardiomyopathies, inherited arrhythmias and inherited aortopathies. As well as managing a caseload of diagnosed patients, we also run a screening program for patients who are at high risk due to their family history. The majority of our workload is outpatient-based with clinics running daily we also support our patients at home, in the community and during inpatient admissions. You will help to co-ordinate and oversee clinics, and will collate detailed family health histories through consultation with families and liaison with external health services. We support the whole family through the process of screening, diagnosis and on-going care.

You will work within a specialist multidisciplinary team consisting of specialist nurses, cardiologists, clinician's assistants, clinical psychologists, geneticists and administrative staff. You will also work closely with the electrophysiology, ECG, echo and MRI departments.

We will support your clinical development and will provide a tailored educational pathway.

Main duties of the job

The role of Nurse Specialist for Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases (ICVD) at Great Ormond Street Hospital is a position requiring excellent specialist clinical skills, as well as effective communication skills to work alongside a dedicated team of nurse specialists and support staff. You will work in collaboration with the team's other Clinical Nurse Specialists to ensure that the team delivers an excellent standard of evidence-based care, providing expert support to patients and families affected by inherited cardiac conditions.

The Centre for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease at Great Ormond Street Hospital is a multidisciplinary service specialising in the diagnosis, evaluation and management of young people with inherited cardiac conditions. The unit is staffed by a team of paediatric and adult cardiologists with a specialist interest in inherited cardiac conditions, electrophysiologists, clinical nurse specialists, genetic counsellors, cardiac technicians, clinical psychologists and administrative support staff. The team accept referrals from GPs, paediatricians and paediatric or adult cardiologists, for:

- Confirmed or suspected inherited cardiac conditions.- Family history of inherited cardiac conditions.- Family history of sudden cardiac death, cardiac screening for neuromuscular disorders, or syndromes associated with cardiomyopathy or arrhythmia.
