Band 7 Sister / Charge Nurse - Berkshire Cancer Centre Outpatients **This is a fixed-term / secondment opportunity for 12 months to cover maternity leave.**
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking, proactive and highly motivated Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team and work with the Lead Nurse in leading our team in the ongoing development of our Outpatient services.
You will be managing our outpatient nursing teams at the Berkshire Cancer Centre, providing care for patients attending outpatient appointments.Main duties of the job
Manage staff to ensure the effective operation of the team.
Ensure effective skill-mix and appropriate management at all times.
Demonstrate leadership by example.
Demonstrate a positive attitude and high level of motivation by showing a strong commitment to the service.
Be responsible for the standard of nursing care delivered in work area.
Display evidence that staff provide holistic, evidence-based, patient-centred care.
Demonstrate that patients are involved in both decisions affecting their care and well-being and in service development.
Practice in accordance with the professional, ethical and legal codes of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and Trust's protocols and guidelines.
Be accountable for own practice and for the delegation of care given to more junior colleagues, support workers and students.
Be responsible for the standards of cleanliness in the clinical area and for a well-maintained Ward/Department environment.
Prioritise workload to meet targets.
Ensure that Nursing and Operational Management teams are alerted to quality issues.About us

The post-holder works as an expert practitioner and is responsible for the delivery of patient-focused programmes of care, which address the complex and changing health and well-being needs of the client group in their clinical area.
The post-holder displays excellent communication and leadership skills, and is responsible for the day-to-day line management of the team for which they are responsible.

- A qualification that will enable mentorship of students
- Educated to a minimum of 1st degree level, or able to demonstrate evidence that working towards
- Evidence of Leadership, Management and Speciality Development
- Leadership / management qualification
- 5 years post qualification of which 2 years must be in speciality
- Recent clinical experience at band 6/7
- Experience in facilitation, teaching, assessing, coaching
- Detailed experience of Leadership/Management
