A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Midwife to come and join our established Homebirth Team. We know Continuity of Care and Homebirth teams can be some of the most satisfying and empowering teams to work in. We have built this team to not only provide excellent care, but to also care and invest in the midwives within the team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated individual who is dedicated to providing continuity of care for women and their families planning to birth at home. You will be part of a supportive and experienced team providing antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. You will care for your own caseload, with a collective rostered team on-call commitment to cover the homebirth service 24/7.

With individual needs, motivation and aspiration we are committed in supporting you By working in our Homebirth Team, you will be supported by your Team Leader and Matron. Alongside this, you will also have support from our Professional Midwifery Advocates, through Restorative Clinical Supervision, group and 1:1 sessions. We have a well-established Employee Wellbeing Service, training and development and opportunities that you may choose to access as part of your personal development and extended support.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder may be required to be deployed outside of their normal work setting, depending on clinical risk management and service needs such as Labour ward.

Able to promote continuity of carer, work autonomously within guidelines and spheres of professional practice.

The post holder will provide support to other midwives within the service and may be designated to take a management responsibility for the midwifery practice or team in the absence of the Band 7 Midwife team Lead.

To provide personalized care and support to all women accessing our services within the community for antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care by facilitating evidenced based informed choice at every stage of the pregnancy journey regardless of medical needs or otherwise.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oRegistered Midwife
  • oBSC or working towards
  • oMentorship or practice assessor

  • oManagement Qualification


Experience

  • oPost registration experience
  • oCan show a non-judgemental approach to patient care
  • oAbility to priootise clinical work effectively.
  • oAble to identify the learning needs of others and provide support to address them.
  • oAbility to self reflect , carry out tasks of own job and identify what she/he needs to learn to be able to do current job effectively.
  • oAbility to identify deteoriating patiens and take appropriate action

  • oAbility to provide formal teaching development to staff /colleagues
  • oAbility to record and report back accurately and fully on patient assessments undertaken and risks identified.


Desirable

  • oDemonstrate a greater understanding of learning needs and evidence of facilitation skills
