We currently have an opportunity for a band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our School Years team to further their knowledge and skills in paediatrics in a full time permanent post (37.5 hours per week).

In this position you would have the opportunity to work alongside experienced therapists within Special Schools, as well as developing further independence and autonomy with a mainstream caseload. Due to new business the successful applicant could also have the exciting opportunity to be part of setting up a new therapy service within a specialist resource setting alongside Speech and language Therapists and specialist teachers.For this role we would consider someone who is an experienced band 5 or a newly qualified OT who is looking for the opportunity to progress their clinical skills.

The position is Monday to Friday 9:00am - 17:00pm and we are happy to consider those looking for term time only work. The role will involve travel to several sites but also leaves room for some home working.

Our CYPIT service supports children and young people from birth to 19 years of age across Berkshire. We're an integrated therapy service, committed to impact-based clinical decision making and co-production of therapy plans with our families and partners.

Main duties of the job

• Provide high quality assessment and interventions for children and young people with developmental / complex needs

• Opportunity to work alongside, and learn from Sensory Integration trained therapists

• Be involved in the implementation of training packages

• Function as a specialist autonomous clinician, supporting delivery of the CYPIT model, development of the CYPF and provide support to more junior staff

• Contribute to defined projects and service development initiatives as requested

• Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records

Education/Qualifications

Essential

• Professional Qualification E.g. Professional knowledge acquired through degree/ diploma supplemented by post graduate diploma specialist training, experience, short courses plus further specialist Training
• Able to demonstrate an understanding of the diverse needs of children and young people.

Desirable

• Clinical educators' course
• Member of relevant clinical specialist interest group
• Completion of Sensory Integration level 1
• Able to demonstrate required clinical knowledge of up to date children's Occupational Therapy interventions and service issues

Training

Essential

• Recognised CPD in area of clinical specialism
• Able to demonstrate understanding of a neurodevelopmental approach to the management of CYP

Desirable

• Experience with the assessment and provision of a range of adaptive equipment to support children and young people with a diverse range of cognitive and physical difficulties
• Post graduate clinical experience and working knowledge in specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapy with evidence of experience and/or specific training with regard to Sensory Processing, Handwriting, ADL, etc.
• Experience of supervision and training of junior therapists/ Assistant staff and/or other professionals
• Willingness to undertake leadership and management training and development

Previous Experience

Essential

• Minimum 1 years post qualification experience in adults or paediatrics

Desirable

• Experience of working with families from a wide variety of backgrounds including age and ethnicity
• Experience of working with CYP with sensory processing difficulties including ASD, and supporting CYP with physical and/or learning difficulties
