Are you an adult or childrens trained student nurse qualifying soon? Would you like the opportunity to work in a neonatal service that offers variety across secondary and tertiary care services with multiple opportunities for development?
The neonatal unit at Royal London hospital aims to provide a safe, high quality and family-centred environment, which meets the holistic needs of the neonate and families in our care.
It is a level 3 Tertiary unit providing care for babies born at 22 weeks and above. Offering therapies such as Total Body Cooling (TOBY), Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening, offering services such as ward based laser therapy or intravitreal injections directly into the eye. We serve North East and Central London, and South Essex for neonatal surgery, one of only 5 hospitals specialising in neonatal surgery.
We have capacity for 37 cots comprising of 11 intensive care cots, 12 high dependency cots and 14 special care costs. There is also a transitional care service within maternity where parents care for their baby with support from the midwifery team, and 'rooming in rooms' where parents stay with their baby before discharge home to encourage confidence building while offering reassurance of a nurse close by.
