A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and innovative Dietitian looking for a new challenge, to support the development of a new service within the East of England Collaborative.
The East of England Collaborative manages General Adolescent Units in the following areas: Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes, Herts and West Essex, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Mid and South Essex, Norfolk and Waveney, Suffolk and North East Essex.
The unit supports young people suffering from emotional, behavioural, and psychiatric problems offering young people a 24-hour, 7 day a week service: assessing, treating and evaluating care through a variety of therapeutic techniques including family work, individual work, group work and day-to-day milieu.
We are looking to recruit an Inpatient Dietitian to support young people on these units with eating disorders or disordered eating. This is a new post, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop the service to support these young people and the units. This is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge and grow your service development skills.

Main duties of the job
You will be expected to:
- Provide evidence-based high quality, comprehensive Dietetic assessment and intervention for specified service user group. This will involve nutritional diagnosis, interpretation of biochemistry, taking anthropometric measurements and being aware of clinical conditions.
- Involved in setting up processes in the units for the provision of dietetic assessment and care. whilst training staff on how to implement and work within this framework.
- Promote the principles of nutrition screening and monitoring to service users, family, carers and professionals. To tailor information and advice to individuals as appropriate.
- Assess, diagnose and develop treatment plans for service users identified as needing Dietetic intervention, including those with learning disabilities, additional sensory needs, mental health diagnosis and/or challenging behaviour

Job description
Job responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based high quality, comprehensive Dietetic assessment and intervention for specified service user group.
- Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work, working within the professional code of practice and Trust policies and procedures.
- Promote the principles of nutrition screening and monitoring to service users, family, carers and professionals. To tailor information and advice to individuals as appropriate.
- Prescribe and monitor nutritional supplements when required.
- Conduct dietary analysis requiring periods of concentration and accurate keyboard skills to ensure accurate calculations of meal plans
- Improve knowledge of the importance of nutrition and healthy eating on health for service users, their family, carers and professionals
- Manage a caseload using evidence based, person centred principles, to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in the unit
- Provide training to staff on the unit regarding dietary intake, meal support and recording of information
- Undertake supervision of junior staff and students as required
- Work as a member of the MDT

Person Specification
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- BSc Nutrition & Dietetics degree or equivalent
- Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
- Experience of working with children and young people, within eating disorder services or within mental health services
Desirable
- Attained or working towards a postgraduate qualification or evidence or experience in a specialist area
- Experience of using motivational interviewing/behaviour change techniques
- Clinical supervisory skills training
- Member of British Dietetic Association
AREAS OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

- Knowledge and application of dietetic assessments and interventions
