The Older Persons Assessment & Liaison (OPAL) team are looking for a motivated and dynamic Occupational therapist at band 6 level to join the team on a 6-9 month fixed term secondment. This is an exciting opportunity to use your expert clinical skills, and sound management and leadership experience to support the team. We are looking for someone with an ethos of continual improvement and development to help us provide appropriate and tailored person-centred care to our patients.
The is a fantastic opportunity to join the award-winning OPAL team at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. The OPAL team consists of Advanced Clinical practitioners, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants. The team work closely with the Frailty MDT to provide specialist assessment and treatment to patients with Frailty within the emergency department, and acute medical unit within a virtual same day emergency care (SDEC) model.
The service prides itself on its success rate and is committed to providing opportunities to develop both clinical and non-clinical skills through our Mentor and Coaching programmes.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist assessment and treatment to patients with Frailty within urgent and emergency care services. Must be able to work in a generalist manner to ensure continuity of care.
To work closely with other members of the Frailty MDT in providing acute hospital-based assessment for frail older people, including Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment.
As an advanced Occupational therapist, to provide therapy advice and support to other disciplines or services, within the team and across the Trust.
To work collaboratively with the wider Frailty Therapy Team to ensure operational and clinical priorities are delivered, to ensure safe patient care.
To work collaboratively across the wider Frailty Therapy Team in the maintenance and development of the therapy service and to support and lead local and national initiatives in therapy within the Frailty Service.
To extend the scope of clinical practice to enable the support of medical and nursing colleagues to provide excellent patient care.
