We seek to appoint enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who are passionate about CYP mental health. You will be a CAMHS professional, registered with a professional body or have equivalent qualifications and accreditation and have experience of working in a Child and Young person Mental Health Setting.

The Mental Health Support Teams are part of an exciting project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties in Wirral Primary Schools. The purpose of the mental health support team is to promote positive Mental Well-Being as well as Positive Mental Health. The main focus of Mental health Support teams is:

To provide support and advice to school staff through consultation and training

To work with children and young people 1-1 or through group work

To support schools in their development of a Whole School Approach to Mental Health

Be willing to support special interest areas in line with service need.

Main duties of the job

The mental health practitioner role for MHST will be to support the delivery of all interventions provided by Education Mental Health Practitioners and Children and Young People's Wellbeing Practitioners, ensuring that a wide range of evidence based interventions are used to support young people's mental health. You will support leadership and will be involved in the development of the MHST alongside the Clinical Leads, Team Managers and Clinical Coordinators, supervising practitioners and coordinating a cluster of Education Mental Health practitioners and Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioners.

All new clinical support staff will be required to have completed or working towards the Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 6 months of start date).

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment.You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of �13 per year applies.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Core profession (Social Care, Nursing, Allied Health Professional, and Clinical Psychologists) or recognised degree level broad based health & social care qualification which will require completion of The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Knowledge Skills and Attributes https://www.babcp.com/Accreditation/CBP/KS A.aspx KSA Accreditation profiles Qualified Post Graduate Certificate or above from a provider university as part of the CYP-IAPT programme eg. EMHP, CYPWP, Associate Psychologist
  • Professional registration with recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, BACP,BABCP BASW, )


Desirable

  • Teaching, Mentoring qualification
  • Therapeutic Training to intermediate / diploma level


Knowledge

Essential

  • Working knowledge of specialist therapeutic approaches e.g. CBT, Family Therapy
  • Knowledge of Child Protection workings and Practice
  • Working knowledge of Children related legislation
  • Experience of inter-agency working
  • Experience of writing, implementing and evaluating Care / Treatment Plans


Desirable

  • Experience of working with Students/ Learners
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision


Experience

Essential

  • Significant post qualification experience of working within CYPMHS or Child Mental Health related field
  • Recognised Experience of working with a specific therapeutic approach. E.g. CBT, Family Therapy, SFBT.
  • Undertaking formal and informal Clinical Risk assessments
  • Undertaking Mental Health Assessments
  • Keyboard skills, including using databases, Microsoft Office and clinical systems


Desirable

  • Post qualifying experience of working within NHS community CAMHS
