Come and join our adult SLT Team at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. The joint acute and community Adult SLT Team are a friendly and supportive group of Therapists, Assistants and admin staff serving the Fylde Coast population. Due to staff movement, we have the exciting opportunity to offer 2 full time Band 5 positions. New graduates are encouraged to apply. One is a fixed term split post within our community and acute team, up until August 2024. The other is a permanent post within our inpatient stroke team. Band 5 to Band 6 development position would be considered for the right applicant for either post. Part time hours and flexible working will also be considered. We offer excellent support for developing dysphagia competencies and NQPs with regular individual and peer supervision. We are dedicated to continued service improvement and over recent years have developed our telehealth capabilities within the community and our inpatient FEES service alongside our long-established videofluoroscopy service. We are also committed to continuing professional development and the training of SLT students.

Main duties of the job
- deliver a high standard of person-centred SLT care to adults, by participating in the management (assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge) of adults with a variety of communication and swallowing difficulties.
- be involved in the provision of support, guidance and information to patients, their families and other professionals regarding swallowing and communication.
- assist in the clinical supervision and education of speech and language therapy assistants.
- participate in the clinical education of speech and language therapy students.
- work within and adhere to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, The Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Standards of Practice, relevant Trust policies, procedures and guidelines.
- possibly participate in SLT rotation scheme across the wider service.

- Honours Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy
- Registered member of HCPC & RCSLT
- A demonstrable commitment to CPD activity with evidence of same.
Desirable
- Evidence of successful completion of relevant specialist post graduate courses in dysphagia.
- Involvement in a Clinical Excellence Network
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Essential
- Knowledge of and experience in assessment, diagnosis and general management of communication disorders due a wide range of conditions within the adult population.
- Experience of managing own caseload.
- Awareness of the roles of other health professionals involved with relevant client group.
- Experience of presenting to groups
