We are please to advertise a permanent term full time Band 6 Orthoptic post. You are invited to join a team of enthusiastic and motivated Orthoptists, Optometrists, Perimetrists, Ophthalmic technicians and Ophthalmologists at Guy's and St. Thomas' hospital trust. We would expect the applicant to do a wide range of adult and paediatric complex clinics. Also have an interest in an extended role in MR injection service/uveitis/ glaucoma/A& E etc.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking an Orthoptist who wishes to do a wide range of Orthoptic skills, complex children's clinic, adult neurology clinics including casualty cover, primary and secondary vision screening. The department sees a wide range of Orthoptic patients and has various specialist clinics Neuro-ophthalmology, medical eye unit, myasthenia gravis, max fax, A& E, paediatric neurology, endocrine including thyroid, genetic, renal, special care baby unit, Botulium toxin, adjustable sutures etc. We have an active role in teaching undergraduate Orthoptists, postgraduate Ophthalmologists, optometrists, medical students, school nurses' health visitors, GPs, foster carers and other related professions. We regularly participate in CPD Audit and research.
We would welcome someone with experience of MR injecting
If you are newly qualified then preceptorship is available, if you are a returner to work or have been practicing in a different type of department the mentoring is available.
Applicants must have a degree/diploma in Orthoptics and be registered with the Health Professions council. The job would be subject to criminal records check, references and a health check.
