The post holder will support the continued development of mainstream genetics testing for gynae oncology patients in East Kent, working as an independent nurse specialist and as an integral member of the Gynae Oncology MDT. This role highlights the importance of early clinical detection, identification of risk factors and prevention strategies
Main duties of the job
Working independently and part of a team, within the continued development of the family history and genetics service for gynae oncology.
Ensuring patients are supported and provided with the relevant information to ensure they understand their personal risk and management options.
Providing high quality patient care and experience. Liaising with regional center's, members of the MDT and primary care.
Maintaining accurate databases, patient information and audits.

The post holder should be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing and varied nature of the role requirements. They will be a fully involved and supported member of the MDT, working to strict deadlines and timeframes. Undertaking training as required to counsel and support patients affected by a gynae cancer and undertaking germline testing.
They must be able to communicate effectively with patients and their families/carers, acting as an advocate and liaising with members of the MDT and across primary care and regional centres.
