We have an opportunity for a Senior Clinical Psychologist (8b) to join us at Vinney Green Secure Childrens Home. We are a multi-disciplinary team focused on improving the lives of young people with complex trauma histories.
You will lead on components of the SECURE STAIRS framework and provide evidence based psychological assessment, formulation and interventions to children and young people displaying high levels of emotional difficulties.
Your role will include leading on aspects of implementation as agreed with the Consultant Psychologist this is anticipated to include for example leading the coordination of formulation meetings and reflective practice, working closely with the 8A psychologist and the rest of the MDT.
You will be enthusiastic and highly motivated to provide a good quality, evidence based psychological service within a changing environment, with experience of systemic working. You will also work in partnership with other organisations and engage with young people who have complex needs and may have had difficult life experiences, providing a safe environment where they are able to express themselves without fear of judgement or prejudice. You work be expected to have experience of supporting and providing leadership within the completion of projects or other clinical based initiatives, for example implementing new ways of working within complex systems.
Main duties of the job
Vinney Green offers a range of therapies and education on site and the overall focus is to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people we do this through multi agency working, formulation-led personalised care planning and creating positive attachments and relational supports.
The post holder will work within the Health and Wellbeing Service alongside a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Health and Wellbeing Team Leader, Principal Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Substance Misuse worker, Mental Health Practitioners, Physical Health Nurses, GP with administration support.
The role will include leading on the continued implementation of the SECURE STAIRS trauma informed culture across the Secure Children's home and providing supervision for the wider team. It will involve embedding the approach as a core member of the multi-disciplinary team, working closely with education and care colleagues as well as multi-agency partners.
The postholder will use their skills and experience to undertake complex psychological assessments, formulation and provide high quality care and leadership. They will provide consultation and supervision to support colleagues across the home in delivering trauma informed care and to promote emotional wellbeing. Using evidence-based practice and routine outcome measures, you will use a strength-based approach to work collaboratively with young people.

Vinney Green is a 24 bed Secure Children's Home. Vulnerable children are placed in Secure Children's Home (SCH) when they are remanded into custody by the courts or are serving a custodial sentence. The Young people that are placed at SCHs often have a range of complex needs, missed a large amount of education, have unmet emotional and physical health needs, and have experienced significant levels of trauma in their lives.
SCHs provide a safe place where these young people can receive the care, education and support they need, with the aim of supporting them to develop a range of personal skills, aided by changes in behaviour and attitude, which will enable them to manage safely and responsibly when they return to the wider community.
