Rheumatology Biologics Nurse

Full time:37.5 hours per week, Band 6,

Salary: �35,392 - �42,618 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic registered nurse to join the Rheumatology Team, working across site as a Biologics Nurse alongside the Rheumatology Consultants and Specialist Nurses. The successful candidate will undertake assessment and monitoring for patients receiving biologic therapy, acting as a source of expertise and knowledge for the provision of patient education and support. You would provide a link between outpatient clinics, Infusion unit and primary care, ensuring continuity for patients on biologics therapy.

The post holder will be based at Eastbourne but will be expected to work cross site if necessary.

We are seeking a dynamic and forward thinking RGN with some experience of managing a specialised service to patients with inflammatory arthritic conditions on treatment with biological agents. You will be expected to have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and within a team. Ideally you will have education to degree level and evidence of continuing professional practice. Experience of the complexities of rheumatological conditions would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

The post is challenging but will provide you with varied experience and opportunities for professional development within a friendly and supportive team. Training and opportunities to broaden your experience will be available as appropriate. There may also be the opportunity for involvement in clinical research.

Working across site with the Rheumatologists and Rheumatology Specialist Nurses, to undertake assessment and monitoring for patients receiving biologic therapy, acting as a source of expertise and knowledge through the provision of education and support.

Providing a liaison between outpatients clinics, day unit therapy, external homecare providers and primary care ensuring continuity of care for patients undergoing biologics therapy.

The post holder will work across site as necessary between Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital encompassing other ESHT sites as the service requires and develops.

Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 3 years post registration experience
  • Evidence of knowledge of professional practice.
  • Recent relevant nursing experience


Desirable

  • Specialist knowledge in caring for Rheumatology Patients
  • Audit/Research experience
  • Working across Primary/ Secondary interface


Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse Part 1 of NMC Register
  • ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Evidence of post-registration training and development in relevant field


Desirable

  • ENB 983 or equivalent
  • Evidence of other specialist study
  • Non-medical prescriber
