Main duties of the job
We are currently seeking Deputy Sisters to join our Neurological Rehabilitation Service at Oxford Centre for Enablement to contribute to our successful services based in Oxford. Oxford Centre for Enablement has ambitious plans to develop our services, and this is an exciting time to join us.
The Neurological Rehabilitation Centre on the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre site is an 18 bed level 1 Rehabilitation unit. The Centre provides specialist short-term and long-term person-centred rehabilitation, therapy and support for people of 16 years old and above who have had an acquired brain injury which could be a result of a traumatic incident or illness. Many have complex neurological conditions which cause functional deterioration, psychological needs and behavioural challenges.
Our service offers intense rehabilitation for patients in the post-acute phase following a brain injury right through to step-down independent living. Our patients stay with us from 6 -12 weeks and the rewarding part of the job is establishing a relationship with them and watching them progress through their Rehabilitation plan towards a level of independence.

As a Deputy Sister you will provide leadership on the ward including the supervision and development of junior members of the team, carrying out direct patient care and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff. The candidate should have an interest in Rehabilitation and hold a PIN as a NMC Registered Nurse. They must be able to demonstrate patience and understanding when working with vulnerable adults. The candidate should also be a team worker with good communication skills, conscientious, honest, caring and passionate about their nursing career.
We are looking for a star, somebody who is passionate about making the smallest difference to a patients recovery. If you thrive working in a strong multi-disciplinary team, where your opinions and advocacy for your patients is key to the goals and planned care then this is the job for you. The Trust offers Comprehensive Preceptorship training and there are also opportunities for developing Leadership skills for the talented and aspiring leaders of the future.
