An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic clinical psychologist to join the Ramsgate House CMHT team in a 18.75 hours a week position. The post holder will deliver psychological interventions and support a compassionate, recovery focused, and well-functioning team.

The successful candidate will have a varied and stimulating role. They will provide direct clinical care to a set number of clients (i.e. engagement, assessment, formulation and intervention in individual and group formats), and will contribute indirectly to the care of service users under the CMHT via the provision of consultation, team formulation and contribution to MDT meetings, liaison, supervision and training sessions to non-psychology colleagues. The psychology team at Prescott House has a strong commitment to supporting MDT colleagues, also offering a reflective practice group informed by a Cognitive Analytic model, and bi-weekly mindfulness sessions.

You will be offered the opportunity to be trained in EMDR and provided with a high level of supervision to support your practice.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide appropriate structured psychological interventions to people with severe and/or very complex mental health problems (and their families), many of whom will be suffering with personality disorders and/or psychoses, within the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs).
  • To harness and support the psychological skills of other team members in the CMHT by providing supervision, teaching, consultation, opportunities for co-working, and active participation in Care Programme Approach and other multi-disciplinary forums.
  • To contribute to the provision of rapid psychological assessments ofservice-users with complex mental health problems.
  • To provide advice on psychological aspects of risk assessment and positiverisk -taking.
  • To develop psychological formulations of service users' complex mental health problems so as to aid the team's input and management of these difficulties.

  • Demonstrable experience of psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across the age range
  • Demonstrable clinical experience of delivering structured, evidence based, psychological interventions to people with severe and complex psychological problems and specifically people experiencing psychosis and those diagnosed with personality disorders.
  • Demonstrable experience of adapting psychological therapies to the needs of clients with multiple co-morbidities, including health and cognitive problems.


Desirable

  • Experience of teaching/training non-psychologists.
  • Expertise in the delivery of cognitive-behavioural interventions to people suffering with psychoses or personality disorders.
