Due to staff member career progression within the team an opportunity has arisen to work as an Occupational Therapist/Care Coordinator in Older Adults Community Mental Health Team in Salford.
We are looking to recruit a band 6 Occupational Therapist who has a passion for working with older people to join our developing, supportive, and well led multidisciplinary team.
Our team work collaboratively with service users and their families in a recovery-orientated model, promoting independence, choice, wellbeing, and social inclusion with an emphasis on supporting individuals to achieve their hopes and aspirations.
Working with both functional and organic mental health difficulties.Our team promotes professional identity and development with many CPD sessions both in house and external speakers on a monthly basis.
As a team we offer flexible working as well as work from home days and protected work days to ensure staff wellbeing and feeling supported to keep up to date with paperwork and E-Learning.

Main duties of the job
- To be a key part of the occupational therapy team within Salford Older Adult CMHT, providing occupational therapy assessment and intervention for older adults who present with organic and functional mental health problems.
- To act as a Care Coordinator and fulfil the requirements of this role.
- To support a caseload of older adults with mental health problems, using evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and record interventions.
- To provide support, assistance, and advice to carers of older adults with mental health problems.
- To maintain occupational therapy service standards and contribute to the development of the Trust occupational therapy service as a whole.
- To support the Senior Practitioner for Occupational Therapy in the planning, delivery, development, and evaluation of the occupational therapy service within Salford Older Adult CMHT.
- To provide an occupational therapy perspective in the area of older adult mental health to the MDT, Social Services, and other organisations.
- To contribute within the wider MDT in the development of clear carepathways regarding support, care and treatment of older adults with mental health problems.
- To undertake the role of Clinical Educator for occupational therapy students on fieldwork placements.
- To support and supervise other Occupational Therapists across the service.
- To act as a duty worker on a rota basis.
- To work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis
