It is an exciting time to join GMMH's Addictions Network. Recent developments and investment have resulted in us being able to offer multiple positions across a range of disciplines and entry levels.

Achieve Treatment and Recovery Services provides support for people experiencing problems with drug and alcohol use across Bury, Bolton, Salford and Trafford. We are an NHS led service, working with multiple agencies in a unique partnership model. This partnership model enables us to work with patients in a holistic way focusing on the person and not the problem.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Nurse with NMP who will deliver specialist support and prescribing interventions to our patients accessing treatment at Achieve. The successful candidate will provide clinical sessions and will have a leadership role in the team- supervising junior members of the clinical team and providing clinical guidance to colleagues across the service, to our partner agencies and beyond. The successful candidate will also provide a range of clinical interventions, including blood borne virus screening, vaccinations, administering long-acting injectable opiate medications, also carrying out a range of physical health investigations.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To prescribe in agreement with GMMH Trust NMP policy and within local SMS guidelines and SOP.

To prescribe independently within personal formulary following local service, Trust policy and procedure. Also practising and prescribing in accordance with Drug Misuse and Dependence UK Guidelines on Clinical Management 2017.

To be responsible for the clinical assessment, diagnosis and clinical management of service users.

To work in partnership with other professionals/ agencies.

To provide a range of healthcare interventions, including BBV testing, immunisations, ECG , venepuncture etc.

To provide guidance around the management of patients with physical healthcare problems.

To manage junior staff and provide management and clinical supervision.

To support new staff and students to learn and develop in their new role or placement and to provide mentorship and coaching where appropriate.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Registered Non medical prescriber


Desirable

  • post education qualification relevant to addictions
  • qualified assessor


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in health and social care setting
  • experience of leading on a piece of work that has contributed to effective service delivery


Desirable

  • experience of prescribing in a clinical team in addictions services


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of the physical, psychological and social effects of substance misuse
  • Understanding of current policy and initiatives in relation to working in the addictions field


Desirable

  • knowledge of opiate and alcohol detoxification in the community
