We are looking for an experienced band 6 Respiratory Physiologist to join our small friendly Physiological Measurements team. Routine clinical work of the Physiological Measurements team includes provision of Respiratory physiology investigations at both Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital (DPOW) and Scunthorpe General Hospital (SGH), Urodynamic investigations, Bone Densitometry and Vascular ultrasound. This post is Respiratory based, however, the opportunity to diversify between modalities is a possibility, making this an exceptional opportunity for the right applicant.
This is a part time (30 hours per week) permanent post, based between DPOW and SGH, dependent on waiting list demands, therefore flexibility is required. The trust offers a hospital link shuttle bus available to book for travel between sites.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have a BSc Respiratory Physiology / Healthcare Science or equivalent qualification and ideally hold ARTP part 1 and part 2 qualifications or have a willingness to work towards, to be able to provide a high standard of patient care to both out-patients and in-patients. Consideration may be given to applicants as a development role salary will be based on experience. The successful applicant will demonstrate good organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload, communicate effectively with staff and patients. Also being capable of deputising in the absence of the Lead Respiratory Physiologist if required.
The role involves performing, interpreting, and reporting on a wide range of basic and advanced respiratory investigations including:
Spirometry
Lung Volume measurements via Body Plethysmography and Nitrogen Washout
Gas transfer measurements
Reversibility studies
6-minute walk tests
Overnight oximetry
Arterial blood gas collection / analysis
Respiratory muscle function testing
Hypoxic challenge testing and
Mannitol challenge testing.
