We are delighted to offer this permanent full-time Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist post, with a specialist clinical area of complex speech difficulties. Are you an enthusiastic therapist who is passionate about supporting children's speech, language and communication needs and who is looking to further develop their management and leadership skills?
We are looking for a therapist who works well as part of a team with excellent communication skills and enjoys working collaboratively with others. You will demonstrate the Health Board values of listening, learning and improving, treating everyone with respect and always working together as one team.
Main duties of the job
You will work in the children's community clinic team providing highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and support to children with highly complex speech and language needs with a specific clinical specialist area of complex speech difficulties. You will provide clinical support, second opinions and supervision for other members of the SLT team. You will work together with other Highly Specialist SLTs and will be responsible for the operational management of clinical locations and will provide line management to other SLTs in the team as well as leading on quality improvement and service development initiatives.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg SLT department are a friendly and compassionate team who place a strong commitment to supporting staff well-being, supervision and continued professional development.
The children's SLT Team uses Malcomess Care Aims and Advanced Decision Making principles across the service in conjunction with many of the MDT Team. The children's SLT service has a range of clinical specialistsavailable for support and second opinions and staff are fully supported by a line management structure, Paediatric Team Leads and an Admin Team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post: Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Speech and Language Therapy Degree
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of relevant CPD acquired through masters level qualification or equivalent portfolio
Experience

- Relevant post-registration experience in a paediatric setting.
- In depth knowledge and experience of using highly specialist interventions for children with SLCN.
- Experience of writing/contributing to policy documents.
- Experience of providing second opinions
- Experience of line managing staff
Knowledge
Essential
- To have an excellent knowledge/understanding of paediatric community based speech and language therapy services.
- In depth working knowledge of the National Curriculum and ALNET Act
- Knowledge of clinical governance issues.
- To have highly developed specialist knowledge to treat an extensive range of severely disordered children from 18 months to 18 years.

- Able to analyse complex assessment information for highly complex cases and make highly specialist clinical decisions.
- Proficient at on the spot risk assessment in difficult situations.
