An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Lead Nurse / Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Stroke Services, based primarily at Hillingdon Hospital.

We are seeking an experienced registered nurse with a strong clinical and leadership background to join our busy service on a full time basis.

We require a forward-thinking nursing professional with drive, initiative, and determination linked to a breadth and depth of knowledge of stroke nursing and its associated clinical services.

The post holder should be a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse leader who has excellent interpersonal and leadership skills as well as a passion for delivering high quality and compassionate care.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the development of innovative nursing practice within the Stroke speciality.
  • To be an expert practitioner within the specialism.
  • In collaboration with Lead clinicians and other member of the MDT, Divisional Managers and Clinical Directors co-ordinate/lead elements of service development within the Stroke patient pathway.
  • To ensure a high standard of care is provided, developing, implementing and reviewing clinical standards relevant to work undertaken.
  • To provide specialist care for both inpatients and outpatients for patients with long term progressive care needs.
  • To provide specialist advice including medication management to colleagues across both primary and secondary care.
  • To take an active role in supporting teams in the safe discharging of patients, particularly those with complex needs.
  • To review existing pathways for patients with complex progressive care needs.
