An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and motivated Rheumatology Specialist Nurse or Senior Nurse with experience of working within Rheumatology, to work within the Rheumatology Service at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will form part of the Rheumatology Specialist Nurse Team in providing highly specialist Rheumatology care within the hospital to patients with Rheumatic disease who have complex needs using advanced clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice.

Main duties of the job

As a Rheumatology Specialist Nurse, main duties of the role will include:

- Provision of an expert nursing-led service to ensure the needs of patients are met by leading and ensuring good practice guidelines are maintained within the Rheumatology service.

- Independently assess, diagnose, treat and manage own caseload of patients.

- Responsible for data collection, entry and maintenance of Rheumatology database, supplying research and statistics as required.

- Undertaking independent clinics, conducting SOS clinics to prevent admissions.

- Participation in clinics within Medical Day Case Unit to infuse specialised treatments.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse
  • Rheumatology qualification or degree level equivalent qualification
  • Teaching and assessing in clinical practice
  • Non medical prescribing qualification


Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 5 years experience post-registration in Rheumatology
  • Experience as a senior nurse within an acute hospital setting
