We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide dietetic care and for patients presenting with gastroenterological illnesses within an acute hospital , you will be leading the dietetic service for Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
The Gastroenterology department at the University Hospitals of North Midlands care for the needs of the Staffordshire population, it is a regional centre for Upper GI cancer, as well as non transplant hepatology. The department has 15 Gastroenterologists and Clinical Nurse specialists . The Gastroenterology department has an interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Hepatology, Nutrition and Functional Disease
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be working within inpatient and outpatient caseloads working closely with a well-established dietetic team which comprises of 58 dietitians and dietetic assistants in a range of specialties. We have a Gastroenterology Ward with 36 inpatient beds.
The post holder will be a lead Dietitian for Gastroenterology, working within the Adult Acute team. supporting dietitians and dietetic assistants within the specialty. There will be responsibility for inputting into the planning and delivery of student training and support of Dietitian Apprentices.

- BSc (Hons) Degree in Dietetics or equivalent with current state registration
- Completed accredited FODMAP training
- Clinical supervisory skills training
- Evidence of completion of leadership training (e.g. Edward Jenner or local trust equivalent)
Desirable
- Completion of PENG Clinical Update Course
Experience
Essential
- Significant broad theoretical and practical experience of gastroenterology and heptology dietetics.
- Experience in treating complex gastroenterology conditions Experience in the management of patient's with complex nutritional issues (e.g. Eating Disorders, Dysmotility)
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team working and care co-ordination
- xperience of delivering care to people in acute clinical settings and outpatient settings within NHS.
Desirable
- Experience in managing parenteral nutrition
- Evidence of completion of clinical audit
