The new Barts Heart Centre has brought together the services of some of the best cardiovascular experts in the country, who will work together to create a single specialist centre for cardiovascular disease to cover all our local communities.
Barts Health NHS Trust Echo service is one of Europe's largest Cardiac ultrasound services, with an annual activity of nearly 48,000 scans. St Barts Heart Centre has ten echo rooms, including TOE, Stress Echo, and Grown-Up Congenital Heart (GUCH) specialist services. In addition, there is a significant GUCH echo and EP service. There are also 10 lab cardiology services, with five operating in EP and devices and 5 in intervention. We also run six device follow-up rooms and one of Europe's most extensive remote monitoring services.
Main duties of the job
Our Echocardiography department holds dual accreditation with both the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), so this is an exciting opportunity to develop your career as a competent Echocardiographer with opportunities to progress to training in advanced specialist areas.
It is a fantastic opportunity for current 8a or experienced band 7 Cardiac Physiologists to further their career at St Bart's Health NHS Trust.
We seek a forward-thinking, dynamic, and motivated individual to support the Principal Cardiac Physiologist for Echocardiography in leading the Echo Quality and Training. The department/service has a rigorous quality assurance program designed to teach and develop changes to maintain high standards of practice. We also have a high success rate in training Echocardiographers and ensuring top passing marks with any accreditation body such as BSE or EACVI. The department trains a combination of physiologists/clinical scientists, STP, ETP, registrars, nurses and non-cardiac consultants.
