We are a tertiary respiratory multidisciplinary service that receives referrals from primary care and paediatricians within Tower Hamlets, Northeast London, and Essex. The role involves both case load management and working with patients and staff in clinical areas including our 4 paediatric inpatient wards, PCCU, Children's outpatients and daycare as well as the community. Our service manages a wide variety of respiratory and genetic diseases. The post holder will be expected to manage caseloads consisting of children and young people with CF You will be asked to take a lead in the development of policies and guidelines for those patients. This extends across both families and parents throughout the whole trust and the wider community. The CNS role also includes delivering staff training and education for the management of children within the Trust in collaboration with community teams.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join our specialist respiratory service and team of children's respiratory nurse specialists. The postholder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver high level specialist respiratory care to patients with Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
The post holder will be active in respiratory nursing management alongside the Respiratory CNS Team and MDT.
The role shall involve working within a seamless specialist respiratory nursing service that is aimed at continuously improving standards of patient care and facilitating multi-professional working. This will be achieved through clinical practice, management, education, research and audit and professional activities considering directorate, corporate, and national policy and within the clinical governance framework.
The post holder will highlight and exemplify best practice, being a resource for advice and conduit for assessment of children with CF. They will work alongside and be active in respiratory nursing management alongside the other members of the respiratory CNS Team and wider multidisciplinary team.
The role may involve working across site and together at various sites according to our pathways.
