An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Ward Manager (Band 7) to come into post on Willow Ward at Liskeard Community Hospital.
The role requires the post holder to be committed to the ongoing development of the ward and multi-disciplinary team working and to work closely with unit leads. We aim to deliver the highest standard of patient and rehabilitative care to our patients.
The ideal applicant will possess a good level of organisational, communication and clinical skills relevant to the post and be able to act as a positive role model. We need an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who can work well within a team and on their own initiative.
You will be responsible for guiding the team by providing a clinical presence and working alongside them on the ward, providing expertise to facilitate safe, effective, high-quality, person-centred care.
One of the main responsibilities of the Ward Manager is to support the flow of patients. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain safe staffing levels, deliver effective care and review incidents/complaints/audits. This will involve developing a close working relationship with the Ward Manager of Oak Ward and developing a culture of mutual support between the Wards.
Interviews will be held on 18th October. Proposed start date for the post is January 2024.

- To provide managerial and clinical leadership to the nursing team and support staff.
- To manage the daily running of the ward ensuring effective staff rostering and skill mix
- To lead and develop the nursing team
- To ensure the delivery of high quality evidence based patient care within the guidelines of Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures.
- To promote effective communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary and inter-agency team including medical staff, patients and carers
- To ensure effective management of ward resources including ward budget.
- To support and deputise for the Modern Matron.
- To work flexibly with peers and managers in the Locality, prioritising resources as required.
Key Dimensions of the post are:
- 19 bedded Ward
- Staff groups for which responsible nursing and housekeepers
- Partnership working with local GP Practices, Commissioners and Community Services, Adult Social Care and the Voluntary Sector.
