An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Community Mental Health Nurse to join the team at Preston East CMHT, based at West Strand House.
The successful applicant will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse wishing to join the Community Mental Health Team, based in central Preston. Consideration will be given to all interested applicants regardless of current clinical role. Some prior experience of working in the community would be useful, but is not essential as this will be a developmental role.
The successful applicant will be welcomed into a friendly and supportive team of dedicated and motivated staff from a variety of disciplines.
Day to day, you will be responsible for managing your own caseload of service users, and will also carry out face to face assessments with patients newly referred to the team. Preston East CMHT is busy team and we have a vibrant and diverse catchment area, with lots of challenges and rewards in that.

Main duties of the job
- Act as a link liaison person and network between the team and statutory and non-statutory agencies.
- To participate, in meetings as required by the team and the wider service.
- Participate in forums which impact on own and wider service.
- Exercise effective clinical and practice leadership within the community mental health team.
- Provide complex and sensitive information to service users and carers and the multi-disciplinary team, which can be conflicting from the different professionals in relation to severe and enduring mental illness. There may be barriers to communication if a service user is experiencing hallucinations/delusional ideation or if interpreters are required for people from ethnic minority backgrounds, or if a service user is experiencing any other disability.
- Maintain and promote positive working relationships with all referral agencies.
