We are looking for a dedicated individual to provide specialist and comprehensive promotional, communications and engagement support to the Barts Life Sciences Precision Medicine team as they engage with public, patients, researchers and clinicians around the opportunities provided by the Precision Medine Platform.More information on the Barts Life Sciences Precision Medicine team which is based in the Barts Health NHS Trust can be found here: www.bartslifesciences.org.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role are to develop and deliverthe Precision Medicine Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) strategy. You will also deliver a range of engagement events, campaigns and activities and act as an expert resource on internal and external communications, using the most effect methods and channels to reach different audiences.
The Precision Medicine Programme in Barts Life Science will make hospital data ready for research and the provision of secure data environments for researchers to undertake their analysis work. The team is enabling the wider use of healthcare data for research, while protecting patient and public rights to confidentiality and choice about how their data is used.
The NHS generates vast quantities of data from patient interactions, treatment and therapy. This data is used primarily for direct patient care, to inform clinical decisions and to organise the delivery of care. Data is also used internally within NHS organisations to monitor population outcomes, improve service delivery efficiency and improve the quality of care. Data can also be used outside the health service, by third-party organisations - such as universities or commercial organisations, where data might be used for research, product and service development.

- Experience of leading patient, public, community, press and other stakeholder engagement at a level suitable to facilitate credibility and positive relations with staff, patients, members of the public and communities
- Experience of directly engaging with diverse patients, carers, communities and professionals in a professional capacity, and understanding of their dynamics, needs and challenges
- Experience in generating and making presentations on complex topics to lay audiences (e.g., use of patient data in research)
- Experience in using social media as part of a broader communication strategy
- Experience in interpreting and implementing PPIE strategies
- Experience of creating and managing a budget to deliver the design and production of communication materials
- Experience in running promotional campaigns within institutions around using new services
- Working effectively as part of a wider, potentially distributed, teams
- Experience of running open surveys and collecting feedback through social media channels
