An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Northumberland Children and Young Peoples Service. We are recruiting band 6 Community Practitioners to work into our Mental Health Pathway
Our service is fully integrated and provides specialist mental health assessment and intervention for children and young people with complex and enduring mental health problems, including those with a learning disability. The multi-disciplinary team comprises of a highly skilled and experienced workforce.
To be responsible for the assessment and management of casework of service users who have substantial and complex mental health needs.
To provide evidence based interventions following a full assessment as part of a multi-disciplinary team. To complete documentation within robust timescales, and ensure review.
To undertake duties in supporting families and partner agencies, and attend multi-agency meetings to safeguard children.
Main duties of the job
We deliver a wide range of evidence based interventions through clearly defined care pathways. We have developed a comprehensive supervision structure for staff including individual supervision and peer support, through our care pathways. We offer many interventions to young people and their families, and offer training via our internal training programme.
We are keen to recruit clinicians with experience in working with infants, Cared for children and young people and those with trauma and attachment difficulties. Successful candidates will be supported to engage in appropriate therapeutic training, following a probationary period, to further upskill and strengthen their knowledge base. Collaborative working with partner agencies and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team is an integral aspect of this post.

Qualifications
Essential
- First Level Registered Nurse RNMH, RMN, RNLD or equivalent first level qualification e.g. Social Worker, OT, Clinical Psychologist, other.
- Mentor Training.
- Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post.
Skills
Essential
- Evidence of delivering NICE interventions
- Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
- Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
Knowledge
Essential
- 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need
- Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.
- Experience of working with client groups
