To provide operational and strategic management of the cardiology catheter laboratories (cath labs) at University Hospitals of the North Midlands (UHNM), including:
  • Drive the operational running of the cath labs to ensure the service provides responsive, high quality, safe and innovative patient care on a daily basis.
  • Provide strategic leadership to develop the service consistent with the Directorate and Division's strategic aims and in line with local and national developments.
  • Lead the professional development of the multi-disciplinary cath lab team, including the implementation and development of relevant Trust wide guidelines, the training and development agenda for cath lab staff, and recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Engage proactively in the Division's Clinical Governance processes, including reporting and investigation of incidents and complaints and implementation of relevant action plans.
  • Act as a leader and role model to create a positive and inclusive culture, and support effective communication between the cath lab department and Directorate Management Team.
  • Lead the team in the monitoring and implementation of safe practice, including Datix incident reporting and attend the monthly department mortality and morbidity meeting

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification in healthcare management, or equivalent evidence of continuing professional development


Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in tertiary cardiology with a sound working knowledge of the cardiac cath laboratories
  • Previous experience of service development /planning
  • Previous experience of managing staff, including recruitment, performance management and development of


Desirable

  • Previous clinical experience of cardiac catheterisation Procedures


Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing a budget
  • Clear awareness of and previous involvement in Clinical governance processes ? Experience
  • Able to engage and influence others to implement major changes
