- Drive the operational running of the cath labs to ensure the service provides responsive, high quality, safe and innovative patient care on a daily basis.
- Provide strategic leadership to develop the service consistent with the Directorate and Division's strategic aims and in line with local and national developments.
- Lead the professional development of the multi-disciplinary cath lab team, including the implementation and development of relevant Trust wide guidelines, the training and development agenda for cath lab staff, and recruitment and retention initiatives.
- Engage proactively in the Division's Clinical Governance processes, including reporting and investigation of incidents and complaints and implementation of relevant action plans.
- Act as a leader and role model to create a positive and inclusive culture, and support effective communication between the cath lab department and Directorate Management Team.
- Lead the team in the monitoring and implementation of safe practice, including Datix incident reporting and attend the monthly department mortality and morbidity meeting

- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

- Post-graduate qualification in healthcare management, or equivalent evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

- Minimum of 4 years experience in tertiary cardiology with a sound working knowledge of the cardiac cath laboratories
- Previous experience of service development /planning
- Previous experience of managing staff, including recruitment, performance management and development of

- Previous clinical experience of cardiac catheterisation Procedures

- Experience of managing a budget
