We are looking for experienced Registered Nurse/ODP's in Theatres who share our vision to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

Theatres is expanding its services to include elective patient admission and recovery, as well as a continued emergency service for the Trust. Our team is available 24/7, 365 days a year, so candidates must be able to work evenings, nights, on calls, bank holidays, and weekends, as part of a rotating schedule with other team members.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical leadership to a team of Anaesthetic Nurses/ODPs within the Theatre environment to the highest possible standard.

To assume responsibility for the operational management of staff and resources in the absence of the Team Leader.

To act as a role model and create an environment that promotes excellence in Theatre practice and empowers staff to develop high levels of clinical skills.

Qualifications / Training

Essential

  • Registered Nurse or Registered ODP
  • Registration with NMC/HCPC
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Mentorship/ Preceptorship qualification


Desirable

  • ALS/ ILS
  • PILS
  • Management Qualifications


Previous Experience

Essential

  • High level clinical skills and knowledge
  • Participation in formulation of procedures to ensure best practice
  • Teaching and assessing
  • Must have either the ODP qualification or Nurses must have additional formal post basic training in anaesthetics


Desirable

  • Post registration experience


Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills
  • Developing leadership/ supervisory skills


Desirable

  • Ability to lead and motivate a group of staff with varying abilities
  • Administration of IV drugs
  • IV cannulation


Knowledge

Essential

  • Able to work within NMC/HCPC Code of Conduct
  • Full understanding of role and its limitations as stated in the job description
  • Understanding of principles of Clinical Governance (e.g. risk management, audit, quality)
