An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Occupational therapist to join South Tees Liaison Psychiatry on permanent contract.
Occupational therapy will be provided as a deliverable intervention which aims to support users in personally meaningful recovery of ordinary lives and daily occupation/s. A commitment to assessment of occupational need and a clear understanding of the therapeutic use and benefits of occupation based intervention is essential.
The B6 Occupational Therapist will work as part of the ward multi-disciplinary teams committed to collaborative working, and focusing on the provision of high quality evidence based services to individuals or groups.
Joint working with colleagues is encouraged, particularly as relates to grading discharge and providing continuity of intervention.
The post will offer varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through appraisal. Clinical/professional supervision will be provided by the lead occupational therapist.

Main duties of the job
To develop and implement occupational therapy treatment plans and provide advice to service users with diverse presentations and complex needs to enable them to maintain, restore or create a balance between their abilities and the demands of their occupation and environment in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. Service users have a range of mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities.
Responsible for ensuring the highest professional standards and attitudes towards the care of service users are maintained at all times and that care is delivered in accordance with evidence based practice by all staff for whom the post holder has designated responsibility.
To facilitate others in the team to develop competence by providing clinicalleadership and specialist clinical advice on more complex cases.
To provide clinical supervision to occupational therapy staff and students.To be committed to and take a lead role in activities integral to the Trust's Quality Improvement System.
To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.
To promote at all times a positive image of the Occupational Therapy Service and the wider Trust.

- Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent Registration with HCPC
- Successful completion of preceptorship year as a graduate occupational therapist (or equivalent in non-NHS sectors)
- Registration with HCPC
- Clinical Supervisory Skills course (or willingness to undertake within agreed timescale
- Trust training in Appraisal and Recruitment (or willingness to undertake within an agreed timescale)
- Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable
- Accredited Practice Placement Educator (APPLE)
- Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area.
