We are looking for an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist to join our Psychology and Psychological Therapies team within the Cornwall Dementia and Older Peoples' Mental Health Service. This post has become available due to the career progression of the previous post holder, who moved into one of the lead psychologist roles within our team.
This role is interesting and varied, working with both older people with mental health needs, and people with dementia. There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to work across our three main psychological pathways:
We are looking for a highly motivated person with excellent interpersonal and workload management skills and a genuine passion for working with our client group. If you would like to contribute to the development of a supportive psychology team committed to providing compassionate, high quality, and equitable services, we would love to hear from you!
We welcome applications from psychologists qualifying in October 2023 (preceptorships considered) as well as those with post-qualification experience in this specialism, or those considering a change. Calls and visits are very much welcomed. Contact Dr Cara Heneghan, Lead Principal Psychologist for Psychological Therapies (DOPMH) on 07557 177 235 or cara.heneghan@nhs.net to discuss how you might fit with the team and how the post might best fit for you.
Main duties of the job
You will work alongside a growing team including our three Lead Principal Psychologists, another community-based Principal Psychologist, a Psychological Therapist, a Clinical Associate Psychologist, an Assistant Psychologist, and a Psychology Undergraduate Intern. We are also in the process of recruiting to a Consultant Practitioner Psychologist Lead post for the service. We have staff in both community and inpatient services and therefore, we can offer work experience across both areas but also support you to develop in your chosen specialism
About us
We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.
We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.
Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.
We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.
Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
