We are looking for a registered nurse to work as part of the Specialised Drug and Alcohol Service in Bristol, supporting a caseload of complex needs service users with their drug and alcohol use. The post holder will also be involved in the running of our community detox clinic and popular group work programmes.
BSDAS is part of Bristol ROADS, the commissioned Drugs and Alcohol Service within Bristol. We work closely with our partner agencies within DHI, BDP and ARA.
We are looking for a RGN as well as RMN.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a registered health professional with a passion for supporting people with drug and alcohol problems. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with patients facing social exclusion and of co-ordinating holistic packages of care that ensure all needs are met.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with service users is essential as is the ability to work as part of a multi disciplinary team.
Good record keeping and administrative skills are also a must.

Assessment, support planning risk assessment, safeguarding and the delivery of psychosocial interventions will be key tasks on a daily basis. This post sits within a multi disciplinary team consisting of psychiatry, psychology and nursing staff. The MDT approach is central to the management of the team caseload and the post holder will be expected to contribute collaboratively within this environment.

- Appropriate health / social care professional qualification and registration or equivalent relevant experience. o Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the post.

- Experience as a practitioner working with service users and carers, relevant to the delivery of substance misuse services. o Competent in assessment, risk assessment and risk management, care planning, care co-ordination and evaluation of care.

- Able to develop therapeutically effective relationships with service users and carers, working effectively with diverse groups. o Up to date knowledge of, and relevant skills for delivering a range of psychosocial and/or prescribing interventions to this client group as appropriate to this role. o Up to date knowledge of current developments in the drug/alcohol field and related aspects of general / mental health. o Up to date communication, presentation, interpersonal and liaison skills, both verbal and written. o Sound basic IT literacy, including word processing, e-mail and internet use.
