An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the safeguarding and vulnerabilities team at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust as a specialist nurse for safeguarding children.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic RGN / registered health professional with significant experience working with safeguarding cases and can demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding our most vulnerable in society and their families.
They will be required to have an excellent working knowledge of safeguarding and associated agendas and be a supportive and empowering team member.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of the job is to improve prevention and early and accurate identification and management of safeguarding concerns by leadership, expert practice, research and education.
(Safeguarding for the purpose of this job description means Child Protection, Adult Protection, Looked After Children and PREVENT and includes domestic violence, CSE and FGM)
The post holder will do this through supporting activities to ensure that the organisation meets its safeguarding responsibilities with regards to children and young people, implementing strategies, protocols, pathways and action plans to strengthen the trusts management of safeguarding issues.
There will be a focus on robust risk management systems to ensure safe, efficient, effective and timely management of the safeguarding agenda with the Named Nurse seeking assurances from and holding to account services regarding their safeguarding responsibilities
They will demonstrate advanced skills and competencies to influence the pathways of care in the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people. They will initiate and add to research evidence in the field of safeguarding to ensure that evidence based practice is inherent in all aspects of care.
To provide support to the Named Nurse with operational leadership and direction for Safeguarding Children, including associated subjects (i.e. FGM, Domestic Violence, CSE, Modern Day Slavery, PREVENT).

Education and Qualifications
Essential
- oRegistered with a statutory health professional council / NMC
- oGraduate in Nursing or Health Related Subject.
- oPost registration qualification in Safeguarding.
- oExperience in both primary and secondary care services
Desirable
- oMasters Degree in Nursing / Research or Approriate Health related Subject
- oQualification in Computer Skills, confident in the use of systems, spread sheets, database, data collection and coordination, word processing and report writing
- oTeaching qualification
