Job description

Job responsibilities

OT in intensive care is a fairly new role and has lots of potential to be developed further. If this is of interest, please consider, as you will be part of a very small, but increasing, group of OTs in critical care.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an OT with a keen interest to work specifically on the cardiac intensive care unit. Intensive care experience is not essential, however an understanding of OT in this area would be beneficial. We are looking for an enthusiastic OT with proven experience of working with people with acute and complex rehab needs, preferably within the acute care setting.

The patient caseload is varied across elective and emergency surgery, alongside conservative management, and some palliative care. Patients may require neurological assessment and treatment skills, trauma or delirium management skills. The postholder will work closely with the Critical care rehab MDT, hypoxic brain injury MDT, the MDT in Cardiac ITU as well as with Physios, OTs, and therapy technicians within our team.

The postholder will develop and promote the role of OT in ICU, engaging with and providing training and supervision.

This role would suit an experienced Band 5 OT, or a B6 OT looking for a static position. Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Spec before applying.

We run a 7-day therapy service so weekend working, on a roster basis, will be expected as part of your working hours. This will include covering Bank Holidays.

We welcome informal enquiries, so please email or phone to hear more about this new opportunity. We look forward to your application.
