Are you looking to develop your skills as a Stroke Specialist Occupational Therapist? Then joining our newly developed Stroke ESD team could be the job for you!
The post-holder will be required to work as a key member of the multidisciplinary Stroke service to provide specialist intervention for patients following a stroke. You will be required to provide assessment, education and rehabilitation, working closely with the team to promote timely discharge from hospital and achieve and maintain optimal physical and psychosocial health and well being in patients own homes.
You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical and leadership abilities as well being proactively involved in service and quality improvement . We enjoy developing our staff through regular supervision, support and coaching and there is an active Band 6 development and support group that meets regularly.
The successful candidate will work closely with the MDT, Principal OT, Discharge Liaison Team and Local Authorities to ensure effective cross boundary and agency working.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be flexible to service needs, possess excellent self management skills and administer their caseload efficiently to ensure effective intervention.
The post holder will be able to provide a range of specialist assessments, and rehabilitation and be efficient in discharge planning. They will have excellent communication skills and be able to work efficiently both autonomously and as part of a team.
They will be responsible for the supervision of junior members of the team and Occupational Therapy Students.
The successful candidate will actively research the evidence base and ensure that the assessments and interventions delivered by the team are in line with current evidence and recommendations. They will be proactively involved in Quality Improvement and audit and share learning with the wider OT service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
