Since December 2022, the Fire Safety Team has been going through a period of development and expansion with its inclusion in Quality & Clinical Performance Directorate.

To support this, we are seeking two existing MPFT staff members who are looking for career progression and personal development into the world of fire safety risk management, in what has always been a challenging environment however since Grenfell fire disaster the need to manage fire risk has become absolutely vital.

You will either be based at Haywood Community Hospital which provides Specialisms / services, Treatment of disease, disorder or injury, Diagnostic and screening procedures, Services for everyone

or

St Georges Hospital which provides Adult Mental Health, Community Mental Health and specialist services such as eating disorders and perinatal mental health.

Main duties of the job

Please note: We will consider all applications from anyone who is a Band 4 upwards. You will be supported from an initial band 5 and progress to Band 6 through an internal & external training process in our team.

The main duties of the Fire Safety Apprentice Band 5 role include-

• Support with all relevant Fire Safety Advisor duties
• Participate in internal fire safety training courses.
• Attend an external fire safety certificated course and complete course assignments within stipulated time frames.
• Accompany the Trust Fire Safety Advisors on site fire safety risk assessments.
• Involvement in all relevant team activities such as the delivering of mandatory fire safety training and undertaking of ward fire drills.
• Communicate as required with colleagues in Clinical, Capital, Estates & Property Teams.

The main duties of the Fire Safety Advisor Band 6 role include-

• Undertaking of fire risk assessments and writing reports
• Facilitation of appropriate, current fire safety advice
• Monitor fire incidents and carry out fire investigations
• Carrying out of fire evacuation drills
• Devising and delivery of fire safety training
• Appropriate and timely actions and documentation, in line with Trust Policies, Protocols and Procedures.
• Proactively liaising with colleagues in Clinical, Capital, Estates & Property teams.
