Trafford CAMHS are looking to recruit mental health practitioners to undertake assessments, offer interventions and case management. The role involves managing a defined caseload with a focus on working with children and young people and their families who experience a complex range of needs and difficulties. Acting as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will provide assessment, psycho-social, evidence-based interventions using a collaborative approach and will be skilled at risk assessment and management. They will complement the multi-disciplinary working of the team.

It would be an advantage to have experience working with young people, although part of the induction will be to assist you to develop the skills to work with children and young people with mental health difficulties. It is important that you can show your interest and willingness to learn how to work with children with significant mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

You will join our team to provide families with their first contact with our service through triage and high quality assessments. You will liaise closely with the multi disciplinary team to provide getting help, getting more help and risk support. This will include:

assessment of young people and their presenting needs

management of risk and safeguarding

shared decision making with children, young people and their families to understand what might help

shared formulations of need and agreed goals

delivery of case management including effective partnership working with other agencies

delivery of evidence based interventions

advice and signposting

use of routine outcome measures to track goals and demonstrate reliable improvement

compassion and empathy at all times

a high standard of record keeping and communication

work within the policies and procedures of the organisation

  • Registered or have full accreditation with a professional body.e.g. NMC, SW England, UKCP, HCPC, BABCP


Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nursing: RMN/RSCN/RNLD, Social Work (CQSW/DipSW), Occupational Therapy


Desirable

  • Qualifications in Psychotherapeutic approaches e.g. CBT / SFBT
  • Mentorship course ENB998 or equivalent


Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience of working effectively with people with mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding.
  • Experience of providing evidenced based assessments, formulations and treatment packages.
  • Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies
  • Experience of caseload working within a multi-disciplinary mental health setting.
  • Experience of mentoring and supervising others
  • Understand the principles of Clinical Governance and follow Trust policy and procedures


Desirable

  • Experience of providing interventions for children and young people with mental health problems and their families.Community mental health experience.
  • Experience of working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health.

  • Up to date knowledge of child mental health and relevant legislation.
