We're seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Physiotherapist with a passion for neuro rehabilitation to join the team at Walkergate Park. Walkergate Park is a specialist neurological rehabilitation centre and the post will involve working in inpatients at Walkergate Park to provide neurorehabilitation to patients from across the region. The post is temporary for 1 year.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop their neuro physiotherapy skills in order to provide physiotherapy assessment and rehabilitation for patients with complex neurological conditions. The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide rehabilitation for patients with a range of neurological conditions including Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, Guillain-Barr syndrome and Multiple Sclerosis. The service has a robust supervision structure and the post holder will benefit from access to regular in service training and support to further develop their skills.

For this post you will need to be HCPC registered with a degree/diploma in Physiotherapy, you will have an understanding of the rehabilitation process with an interest in neurological rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, management and physiotherapy service provision for service users who have a variety of physiotherapy needs, diverse presentations and a range of neurological conditions.

The post holder will manage and provide on-going assessment and treatment using evidence based practice.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that high quality, individualised care is delivered and that this maximises independence and promotes recovery and wellbeing. They will provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.

Person Specification



  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • State registered with HCPC


  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy



  • Previous experience of working with people with acquired neurological conditions (as student or post-graduate)
  • Demonstrates awareness of the rehabilitation process
  • Demonstrates awareness of setting goal-orientated treatment programmes
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working


  • Experience of working with adults with neuro-disabilities
  • Member of special interest group ACPIN



  • Previous experience of working in respiratory physiotherapy (as student or post-graduate)


  • Demonstrates knowledge of neuro physiotherapy treatment methods
  • Demonstrates knowledge of spasticity management
  • Demonstrates knowledge of outcome measures relevant to neuro-rehabilitation
