Soft Services Manager is responsible for the overall management and service delivery of the following services: Domestic, Portering and Patient Dining. A key element of this role is always to carry out effective communications to all levels, including particularly complex levels of negotiations relating to tendering processes along with overcoming communication barriers and delivering disciplinary decisions and statements. To work with service managers: Domestic Manager, Portering Manager and Patient Dining manager, to deliver the Directorate's strategic and operational agenda. Responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of operational services to the agreed standards and within the established financial constraints.

Leadership

Contributes to the shaping of the vision of the hospital and departments that job role isresponsible for.Provide visible leadership to all staff, promoting a clear sense of direction within theDirectorate, in line with achieving the hospitals objectives.Creates a climate which both encourages teamwork and maximises individuals potential.

Strategic Planning

? Assist in the training and development of staff groups within area of responsibility ensuringeffective strategies in place to manage the change process.? Assist in the Planning and Development of Facilities Services in line with the Directorate's plansfor multi-skilling and generic working.

Job responsibilities

Responsible for overall service provision of the following services, in a timely and efficient manner, within the operational constraints and available resources of the trust
  • Domestic including Pest Control and washroom hygiene
  • Portering
  • Patient Dinning

Assist in the training and development of staff groups within area of responsibility ensuring effective strategies in place to manage the change process.

Prepare and agree Annual Revenue Budgets and ensuring value for money for all expenditure is achieved.

Ensure compliance with the Trusts SFIs/SIs and policies and procedures and all relevant Facilities Service Codes of Practice, statutory requirements and professional standards are maintained.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters degree qualification in Facilities Management


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to manage high profile/sensitive situations
  • Ability to co-ordinate, manage and motivate a disparate group of Facilities staff in delivering a high quality customer service.
  • First class management and team building skills.
  • Proven core skills in senior management relating to : Technology, Finance, Staff Management, Health and Safety, Prioritising Workload, Meeting deadlines and Leadership
  • Ability to Negotiate to successful business conclusions
  • High level of communication skills, including written, oral and presentation skills to large groups of people
  • Ability to use and act on own judgement
  • Skills associated with Chairing Committee Meetings


Desirable

  • Ability to Chair Disciplinary Hearing and make and deliver sound judgement accordingly
  • High speed accurate typing skills


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience at senior level (5 years +)
  • Proven experience within the main key areas of the role
  • Managing budgets in the region of �2 Million in a demanding environment
  • Proven track record in delivering financial targets
  • Experience of delivering income targets and how to achieve year on year increases
  • Delivering change with time frame
  • Proven track record of leading projects to successful conclusion
  • Running Committee meeting accurately and professionally
  • Chairing disciplinary hearings
