Croydon Sexual Health Centre (CSHC) is situated in purpose built premises on the acute hospital site. It is fully integrated with contraception and sexual health delivered from the ground floor and HIV on the 1st floor. In addition, CSHC operates a specialist psychosexual service and specialist training.
The post holder will work within the multi-disciplinary team providing care for patients with sexual and reproductive healthcare needs. The individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department while having a commitment to teaching and training of other staff.
The service is commissioned to provide a full and comprehensive range of contraceptive services for anyone attending the service either referred by other health care teams or predominantly as self-referral. This includes but is not limited to: short acting and long acting reversible contraception (LARC) and consultations for medically complex contraception needs.
Adjoined to contraception is the domiciliary contraception nurse and the teenage pregnancy and outreach team who run training courses, sexual relationship education in schools and outreach contraception clinics off site. The post holder will provide clinical supervision and support for the contraception staff within the unit and of these outreach teams.

- 1 deep implant clinic
- 1 complex coil clinic
- 1 GUM Outpatient clinics in Croydon Sexual Health Centre
- Shared clinical supervision of junior doctors and nurses - ad hoc supporting for contraception issues
Clinical Duties:
- Provide leadership and undertake expert clinical practice in the field of contraception and Sexual Health
- Provide expertise to those with difficult to insert/remove long acting methods of contraception, including transvaginal ultrasound scanning and other complex contraceptive needs
- Provide a full range of reversible contraceptive methods plus specialist clinical services
- Maintain clinical skills and professional accreditation, to include meeting the CPD requirements of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and the appropriate Royal College
- Participate in on-going personal development including appraisal and revalidation
- Maintain accurate and legible records of clinical work including the appropriate use of IT within the department
- Provide professional leadership for nursing and medical staff as appropriate within the service, including responsibility for appropriate induction and clinical supervision.
- Provide medical advice for clinical staff according to the needs of the service
- Provide clinical advice and support when requested by other primary and secondary care services

- Membership of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare
- Letter of competence in Intrauterine Techniques (LOC IUT)
- Letter of competence in Sub dermal implants (LOC SDI)
- FRSH registered trainer
- Full registration with the GMC
- Diploma in GUM
Desirable
- Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
- Letter of competence in Medical Education
Experience

- Experience of working with young and/or vulnerable people.
- Experience in day to day organisation of services in a busy outpatient sexual health department.
- Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
