We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated member of Nursing staff with experience of working with students to join a well-established and knowledgeable team.

The Practice Placement team support all of our students in Nursing from a range of Higher Educational Institutions. This involves Degree Nursing Students, Nurse Apprentices, Return to Practice Nurses, Midwifery Students and Paramedics.

This dynamic position involves working closely to support staff in the trust with their Supervisor and Assessor roles. Supporting and guiding students whilst on placement, and ensuring that the standard of student assessment is of the highest level.

You'll work in collaboration with Universities across the region to support students progress. You'll be responsible for managing your own work-load, whilst supporting and sharing team responsibilities. The service covers all 3 sites (Worcester/Kidderminster/Alexandra Hospital). Ability to travel between sites is essential.

The role involves working with multiple staff, in all clinical areas. Successful candidates will need excellent communication skills, and the ability to organise and plan their own workload effectively. The team is dynamic and flexible and is central to the development of our future nurses and workforce.

The successful candidate, will benefit from a supernumerary period at the start of employment, giving the chance to work with the whole team. This is flexible, and will be based on your skills and capabilities.

Main duties of the job

Develop and deliver formal and informal education provision, actively participating in the provision of education for staff (individual or groups) and evaluate education programmes against evidence based literature

Work with the Education & Workforce Lead to identifying gaps in knowledge and skills of Trust staff and developing appropriate training to support developing staff's clinical knowledge, skills and competence in order to meet both Personal Development Plan (PDP) objectives and the identified needs.

To be responsible for the planning, organising and co-ordinating of ongoing teaching programmes to ensure the clinical skills of the multidisciplinary team are maintained in line with evidence based literature, in particular educational

Job responsibilities

The post holder is responsible for working with service and education colleagues to facilitate a high

quality learning and education experience for nursing and providing and supporting students on the pre- registration programme of study.

Supporting the Ward Managers in planning and evaluating the education and development of Practice Supervisors and Practice Assessors for this programme.

Providing specialist education knowledge to ensure that learning and teaching in clinical practice promotes and supports the Clinical Governance agenda, Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards and the Trusts Nursing Strategy.

Providing support and guidance to organise and support the development of clinical learning in partnership with ward managers and Higher Education Institutions (HEI).

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current live registration on the relevant part of the NMC register.
  • Educated to First Degree level, or equivalent
  • Evidence of CPD


Desirable

  • Masters Degree or working towards, or equivalent
  • Recognised or recordable Teaching Qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Post registration experience in clinical practice.
  • Mentor or Practice Supervisor and Assessor experience with knowledge of the Standards for Student Supervision and the Standards for Education.
  • Proven experience of working in different practice settings with students
  • Proven leadership experience.
