An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic nurse to make a significant difference to the health outcomes for children who have Epilepsy. We are looking for a paediatric nurse to provide specialist nursing to children and young people diagnosed with or suspected of having Epilepsy. Your role is to support and educate children, their families and education or social care providers in order for them to safely care for their condition and co-produce personalised management plans. The role will include supporting other clinical areas in the hospital in delivering care to these patients.
Both internal and external applicants are welcomed, with experience in working with babies, children and young people (BCYP) with Epilepsy is desirable.
The post holder will benefit from the support of the established Epilepsy multidisciplinary team, including paediatric consultants, a nurse specialist but also working closely with local school nurses, social workers and our psychology team.
The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate understanding of the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will care for babies, children, young people (BCYP) and their families affected by epilepsy, attending North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust.
To support children with epilepsy by providing education and training to their families and wider care providers (including social care and education providers) ensuring that and educating families on personalised management plans are created and training in the use of rescue medication for prolonged seizures. You will have a role in ensuring education is provided to schools/nurseries and colleges to reduce educational days lost and managing all aspects of their epilepsy care.
The post holder will support the inpatient wards, emergency department and health care professionals in primary care and educational settings in providing holistic epilepsy care to BCYP in our community.
To participate in clinical audits and service development working towards the epilepsy team objectives.

The Paediatric Epilepsy team consists of 2 consultants who have a specialist interest in Epilepsy and one Paediatric Epilepsy nurse specialist. The Epilepsy Nurse post will have access to the Roald Dahls Marvellous children's charity which provides a peer support network and numerous training and development opportunities.
The team works closely with Haringey and Enfield primary care practitioners to ensure continuity and equal access to Epilepsy care and many of our BCYP will have co-morbidities related to Epilepsy.
The team are linked to tertiary epilepsy centres, in addition to local clinical networks and national organisations to ensure gold standard evidence-based care is delivered, with a strong ethos of learning and innovation.
